When it comes to microfauna & feeder cultures, our small company's goal has always been to offer the best bugs available anywhere. Ever since we began offering live microfauna back in 2009, we've done our best to earn & maintain our uncommonly positive reputation in this department. Our team has worked to develop unique production & quality assurance methods beyond what might be considered typical for the industry. Each member of the staff has been trained to prevent cross-contamination within our environmentally controlled microfauna room, in an effort to ensure our microfauna cultures remain clean, predictable, and reliable. The supplies we manufacture in-house (Fly Media, Microfauna Food, etc) were all engineered to meet the absolute highest standards, and we're sure you'll love the results!

Shipping Info - Hard Supplies:

Orders which don't contain any perishables:
We aim to ship hard supply orders within 1-2 business days Monday through Thursday. Transit times depend on your chosen shipping method, but basic ground transit ranges from 1-5 business days across the continental USA.

Ensuring Healthy Arrival:
Every culture is carefully wrapped in clean paper, individually labeled with ID, and neatly packaged before arrival. If temperatures are considered low, we'll add non-toxic 40-72 hour heat packs to ensure safe arrival at no extra charge. All perishable shipments are scheduled to avoid weekend delays, which helps us ensure the best chances for a healthy live arrival. We're fairly confident that our live arrival rate is the highest in the industry. :-) Please check our Live Arrival Guarantee before you order, since some locations may require the selection of Express Shipping to qualify if temperatures are especially cold.

When We Ship Our Feeders & Microfauna:
In most cases, we're able to ship orders containing microfauna and/or feeder insects (along with any supplies) the same or next business day. That being said, we're forced to schedule all perishable shipments to avoid the (2-3 day long) weekend delay, which greatly increases the chances of healthy live arrival. If we can't ship your order to ensure it'll arrive to you before being impacted by the weekend delay, it will most likely not ship until the following Monday. A Note To Clients In Distant States:
Our business is only about 25 minutes away from the shore in Connecticut, so we're about as "East Coast" as it gets. If you live in the Pacific or Mountain time zones and select standard shipping (default), packages from us will likely be in transit for 4-5 days. With that in mind, clients who live in distant states that select standard shipping are likely to have all perishable orders ship the following Monday, since Monday is the only day we can safely ship while avoiding a weekend delay. (Monday + 5 transit days = Saturday arrival) If you are in a rush, we recommend selecting Express Shipping during checkout, since we'll be able to ship to you as late as Thursday while avoiding the weekend delay. On a related note, if temperatures are over 85° or under 45°, Express Shipping is also the only method covered by our awesome live arrival guarantee! We wish there was something more we could do to speed things up while keeping things safe, but we're dealing with a geographical problem the best way we can.

Our Fruit Fly Breeding Kit offers everything you'll need to create 32oz fruit fly cultures at our lowest prices. NEHERP Fruit Fly Media smells great, lasts a long while, and produces an awesome amount of flies. (No hand-mixing or boiling water required!) It's the best media we've tested for all types of D. melanogaster fruit flies, and it works extremely well for every variety of D. hydei too. For folks who work with both hydei + melanogaster flies, this kit is your best bet. If you exclusively work with D. hydei and don't plan on using melanogaster, check out our Hydei Specific Kit for a slightly better production rate.
Our Excelsior is a lower-dust product, and our team is careful not to include too many of the short fibers in every package. Our top-quality cups don't bend or crack easily, and hold up well over time. The vented fabric lids we include are also the best in the industry. Our Hydei Fruit Fly Breeding Kit offers everything you'll need to create 32oz hydei fruit fly cultures at our lowest prices. The NEHERP Hydei Media included in this kit helps to maximize the production of Drosophila hydei & 'Golden hydei' flies. This media was developed on the backbone of our best-selling original NEHERP Fruit Fly Media, with extra protein, amino acids, and vitamins added to boost production rates. (No hand-mixing or boiling water required!) The new Vinegar Sprayer (in-cart) option includes a simple spray bottle full of white vinegar, which makes creating even more effective cultures quick & easy.
Important: The extra goodies in this media which make it extra effective for Hydei make it far less effective for Melanogaster varieties. If you are looking for a single media to raise both types of flies, we'd recommend the original blend.
Our Excelsior is a lower-dust product, and our team is careful not to include too many of the short fibers in every package. Our top-quality cups don't bend or crack easily, and hold up well over time. The vented fabric lids we include are also the best in the industry.
